Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago

The Cooking and Hospitality Institute of Chicago (CHIC) was established in 1983. From the very beginning, we differentiated ourselves from other culinary institutions by using the traditional, European hands-on approach to culinary education – something that was previously difficult to obtain in the Midwest.

Today, we are renowned for our culinary programs. Our recent affiliation with Le Cordon Bleu is a testament to our dedication to culinary excellence. And as the food service industry continues to grow, we are preparing more students in the Chicagoland area for successful careers than anyone else.

An Education That Runs the Gamut
From the first students to complete our Professional Cooking Program, CHIC graduates have been known to possess the skills the industry needs. In fact, the demand for CHIC graduates exceeds our current enrollment.

While culinary curricula is the cornerstone of the Institute, we take all education seriously. Our Mission recognizes the need to inspire learning as a lifelong journey. Across the board, our classes and programs provide students with a top education and overall experience that’s second to none.

    Who Succeeds at CHIC?
Anyone who has a passion for cooking and a willingness to learn. At CHIC, we combine classical cooking techniques with leading-edge American technology. The result is a program that has been successful longer than any other in the area.

Our students range from recent high school graduates, to international students, to professionals ready to make a career change. So if you are ready to get serious about a culinary career, there’s only one place to go.

    Culinary Programs

At CHIC, we offer two culinary programs – our Associate of Applied Science Degree in Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Arts (AAS) and our Associate of Applied Science Degree in Patisserie & Baking. Both feature comprehensive curricula that will season you for a career in the food service industry.

    AAS in Culinary Arts
Our AAS program combines coursework in three areas: culinary, baking and pastry, and management, including over 450 Le Cordon Bleu proficiencies. This spectrum of learning creates a broad yet thorough experience with theoretical foundations and technical skills. Graduates of the AAS program are prepared for a variety of positions in any foodservice operation.

    AAS in Patisserie & Baking
Through our AAS program, you will have the opportunity to master the theories and techniques of the profession. You will gain the creativity, flexibility and innovative thinking that leads to successful careers in this competitive field. Graduates of this AAS program are prepared for high volume baking production or for positions at any establishment with in-house baking and pasty operation.

Even better, our affiliation with Le Cordon Bleu creates:

    • A stimulating cross-cultural spirit
    • A fraternity of 50 nationalities
    • Associates Degrees and Les Diplomes
    • Worldwide recognition and local appeal
    • Art de Vivre in the Windy City

    Financial Services

Financial Aid is a process that many of our students utilize. Every student needs a plan for paying for their education. While some pay by cash, many students use financial aid to help with their college costs. Our friendly Financial Aid staff is available to assist you through the financial aid application process. We are committed to helping every student, whether applying for financial aid or paying by cash, in completing their financial aid plan. We’ve helped many students just like you. Financial Aid is available for those who qualify.

    Career Services

CHIC is part of the Career Education Corporation network. Career Education Corporation is pleased to make placement assistance available for our graduates and alumni. On-site agencies, with global access to candidates and job opportunities from our domestic and international sites, are located on many of our campuses and can aid in securing employment that is both exciting and rewarding.
